Driver Situation

One point in Verstappen's advantage: his teammate Yuki Tsunoda is ahead of him by a single position. It's improbable to interfere with Red Bull's lead driver.

Media Conversations

Sky's internal discussion currently: Gary Neville is with Mercedes.

The analyst is looking forward to 2026, speaking with the engineer about his stepping up to Aston Martin team principal.

Starting Positions

Just 16 cars on the grid. This followed another poor grid-setting session for the driver: following his result of twentieth and final in the previous race, resulting in an eighth position in the grand prix, he failed to advance of the first qualifying segment again on Friday. Ferrari have consequently adjusted to his setup and so he will start from the starting area.

Aston Martin's Stroll and the Alpine duo of Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto are all starting from the same position.

Driver Comments

"We'll use the learning for tomorrow," states Hadjar, 11th on the grid. There will be a lot of that.

Team Standings

The focus isn't solely on the drivers' title: McLaren have dominated the team championship but Mercedes, with a forty-point advantage over their rivals, will be hoping to seal second place this weekend. Russell can help them achieve that from the front row, and Kimi Antonelli will begin immediately after Verstappen.

Previous Results

Piastri was victorious then – as he managed last year, as well. McLaren's Australian is attempting a third consecutive win.

Sprint Race Value

Alright, approximately 20 minutes to go till the sprint race begins. Barring disaster, its main importance is as a preview of what is to come, rather than highly important in its itself, with only eight points available to the winner. Mind you, the runner-up spot in this race was sufficient for Verstappen to claim the title in a prior season.

The driver claimed F1 world title following Pérez crashes out of Qatar GP sprint race.
